The Battle is Over: Victory is Secure

At 2:11 am this morning Pop was reunited with Granny and Momma in heaven. In the months since Pops cancer diagnosis we as well as countless others have prayed for healing. God in his infinite wisdom answered our prayers in His time and in His way. A good friend told us at the beginning of this journey that it was a beautiful thing. We didn't understand at the time but now we do. God has poured the blessing out amongst the pain. He allowed Pop to see the beginning of heaven and Pop's whole perspective changed. He no longer battled cancer, he was headed home. He let us know he was OK and it was important to him that we be OK with it too. All the things we wanted to say were said and in the last few days we were able to watch Pop love on so many people; doctors, nurses, friends, and family. He just couldn't help himself. They couldn't help loving him back .... you know ..... no one could. What an incredible example of loving God and loving people.

The man you all knew as Pop, Poppa Sam, Uncle Sam, Mr. Weaver, or Poppy, we knew as dad. God was so gracious to allow me and my sisters the opportunity to call him daddy. We had the bestest daddy in the whole wide world. We will miss him. What a legacy he has left. It's a beautiful thing.

  6. Truly an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Our privilege to sit at "Sam's table" and share in the camraderie, friendship and caring that seems to surround the folks of Lake Placid. Watching the wonderful interaction of family and long time friends has made us grateful to share in a small part of it. We didn't visit with Sam during his last weeks...choosing instead to remember his wonderful smile, great sense of humor and the manner in which he befriended and reached out to all ages. It was especially fulfilling to watch him interact with the children and babies...such love and caring for the little ones. He is sorely missed, his way of life, of giving and loving will be carried on by the children, grandchildren, and extended family that he so diligently taught. Heaven is a better place today...just know that Reba and Granny are happy to welcome him HOME!...Jan & Don

  8. The Weaver family was one of the first families I met over 20 years ago when I came to LP! I was able to eat a relaxing dinner because Mr. Sam would take my babies and love on them! His love has always been so vivid and in in full color!!! Heaven gained an incredible man!

  9. Mike and I just went to the funeral home this afternoon for a friend in Ohio that passed with cancer. We had breakfast with the big guy that was a pig farmer in Ohio. He use to sit at the locals table when he was in Florida. Our thoughts are with all of you and your families. We will miss seeing Sam when we come back down, but sure do hope to see all of you. Our prayers are with you.
