Today was a good day. We started at 10:15 and didn't finish appointments until 5:45. It was almost dark when we got out. I made a quick run to the store while Pop was getting his infusion. All the lab work was good. Dr. Chiappore said he looked much better than he last seem him and his weight has stabilized. Tonight for dinner he actually wanted to eat so he cut his food into little pieces and chewed it very well to get it down. He has felt good today and has held up well considering we started at 9:45 and didn't finish until about 8:00. When we got back to the lodge, dinner was just about ready to be served. We actually stayed and socialized until almost everyone was gone. Dinner was hosted by a few local chapters of Relay for Life. There were numerous cancer survivors who spoke. It was emotional at times but one of the speakers said the doctors can not predict how much time you have because the man in charge is up there(pointing up) and only He knows. Well said. He also spoke of survivors who were told that they wouldn't survive and did.
I have become attached to several of the residents here. There is another gentleman who is in the same clinical trial as dad. I also found out that he almost got kicked out of the trial because twice now he has pretty much quit breathing. One of the side effects of this trial med is shortness of breath. Looking back now I realize how blessed we are because dad hasn't had that problem. A side effect that is very real we know, because another resident is experiencing it and we haven't had any problem. I credit that to answered prayers and blessings. I thank all of you out there who continue to pray for him. Shannon
