Just a bump in the road!

Yes, just a bump in the road is right! Once again we were relishing in the moments of pop feeling so well and down goes the rollercoaster! He was still feeling sick last night after arriving here at the hope lodge so I didn't try to force him to eat or get up moving around at all! We had some discussion about the pain meds possibly being the reason hes not feeling well but not the usual hour long conversation that I enjoy so well! He seemed to sleep ok, coughed a little bit but nothing major.
He still feels some nausea this morning and so he took his nausea meds and drank a boost plus, he's laying down now in hopes to keep it down. Treatment starts in about an hour, another long day ahead of us with infusion and radiation today. I have to give thanks to Terry and Shannon for taking over this morning via airways...the phone...LOL and giving Pop instructions on what he needs to be doing! And he says yes the two of you do have more Reba in you...which is a good thing! As we all can agree! Hopefully he will listen to you guys and stay away from the pain meds for now! Also, I would like to wish Shannon a very Happy Birthday! You are the bestest sister in the world!}

The mood here this morning seems very somber! Nobody had a good weekend.....Cayman is starting to feel the effects of the radiation and is getting sore, Jeff can't eat...they are threatening a feeding tube on him after he lost ten pounds in the last seven days..OUCH! Sid has finally adapted to his feeding tube but still doesn't feel well! Coach is having anxiety and not wanting to face today as it is one of his worse days of treatment. Al doesn't feel the greatest but is looking forward to going home this week! And Deb is getting things cleaned up and ready to leave with her mom this afternoon! She is having mixed emotions about leaving because she knows her mom is ready to get home but she, as all of us here, is hating to leave the great friends she has made and all the support that is here! Doug I guess left Friday, I already miss his smile! Anyways I just pray that everyone here sees a better week ahead! I will be going back home today to prepare for a Christmas party catering that the restaurant is doing and preparing for our own Christmas party and it just doesn't seem fair that we are all able to celebrate and there are people here that can't even eat, nevertheless feel like celebrating Christmas! I pray for them all to gain strength....For now I had better get back in to check on Pop!
Once again thanks to everyone for their prayers! ~ Sonya ~

  1. I pray the day does get better for you Sam, as well as the other residents there. It is amazing from reading this blog everyday that you can just picture each of them from the way you all have descibed them. Hoping all will have a better night and tomorrow. <3 to You All
